Referring Children with Urological Complaints

To help ensure that our youngest patients get to see the right consultant without delay,  we would be grateful if you could ensure that children with the following conditions are referred to GHFT's specialist Paediatric Urology Service:

  • phimosis
  • preputial adhesions
  • scrotal swellings
  • hydroceles
  • hernias
  • undescended testis

This service operates in both Cheltenham General and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Children with UTIs, haematuria or other possible kidney problems should be referred to general paediatrics clinics. Please refer to NICE guidance on UTI to check whether the child with UTI needs to be referred, but please do remember that these children should not be referred to Urology.

If you have any questions please feel free to speak to Dr Jones on 0300 422 6671 or Dr Lyda Jadresic on 0300 422 8492.
